Big Top Denver is a celebration of the way the creative and artistic facets of Denver can come together despite genre or definition and support a worthwhile cause in the local community. The result of this effort will be one evening dedicated to giving these individuals and the culture-at-large a much deserved spotlight while bringing awareness to an important issue. Big Top Denver is also a celebration of the first anniversary of the award-winning media web site, UnseenDenver.com, a mainstay success in Denver’s web community. In addition, a special raffle will be held throughout the night with prizes ranging from tattoo gift certificates from local shops to dining credits from Denver hot spots such as Japoix. The ringleaders/MCs for Big Top Denver are up-and-coming local standup comedians Trent Gillaspie (http://www.trentgillaspie.com/trent/) and Paul Berlute-Shea. (http://bbtalentmanagement.com/talentwerepresent/paulberluteshea.html) All proceeds benefit Safehouse Denver. (http://safehouse-denver.org/) It's a showcase of music and multi-media talent with a little mayhem thrown in for good measure. A spectacle! An event not to be missed!
Scheduled acts at Big Top Denver include hip-hop artists UTICA and Stellar Music Ent; The Diamond Boiz; The Staff. Bands include The Good Grime Sound System and Le Divorce, with one special surprise band to be announced March 4th. Today it houses 26 beds plus cribs, serving more than 340 women and children in a typical year, and hundreds more through non-residential services. About PopularLemonade.com: Launched in April 2009 by Basementalism alum Miss Rachel, PopularLemonade.com features mixtapes, reviews, interviews, hip hop, and fashion freshness without a diet. Since its inception, PopularLemonade has sponsored events including #F*CKFOE Friday, The Four Horsemen Collaboration, and a multitude of other projects that focus on art and culture around the Denver area and beyond. About 2509: 2509, aka Tim Davids, is an award-winning filmmaker, Twitterer, freelance writer, and egomaniac from West Denver, CO. His strange brand of humor can be found picking apart pop culture at the Westword Arts and Culture blog “Show and Tell,” as well as Popular Lemonade.com, or as the basis of a variety of VERY politically incorrect (and narcissistic) jokes on twitter as @2509, on his blog, 2509online.com, or on the Broken Pod podcast with Paul Berlute-Shea at BrokenPod.podbean.com. This whole thing was totally his idea, but he’s remaining crazy-modest. Honestly, he most did this to meet girls. About UnSeenDenver: For the past 12 months Unseen Denver has unsurfaced a rarely seen side of the Mile High City. Through images and articles, the award-winning photoblog invites Denver residents to take snapshots of the interesting, and often temporary, city scenes and submit them to be published in a one of a kind collection. Through their first year they’ve been featured in the Denver Westword and the New York Times.
