Word has it that Google is launching VOIP service free with your Gamil account. However, when logging in I still don't see that I have that option available. I hope it shows up soon so I can start calling my local butcher shop and ask them if they have pigs feet. DF*
I would love to see Lewis Floyd Henry up on the 16th St. Mall doing some Wu. Check out the video. DF* (via The Awesomer)
Illiterate returns with the second annual Denver Does Denver, an event of mass creative promiscuity in which bands DO bands and artists DO artists. Hosted at two adjoining venues, The Meadowlark and The Flobots.org Community Space, Denver Does Denver will be a swinging time of artistic intercourse with over 20 musical acts and 20 visual artists interpreting the material of their predecessors and contemporaries within the city.
What began as an auditory exchange, with Denver's musical acts covering the songs of other Denver musicians, this year expands into the visual realm. Illiterate asked Denver artists to join the cultural swap and take on the challenge of creating a work of art derived from the composition of another Denver artist. Their efforts will be on display as part of a silent auction taking place above the Meadowlark in a space transformed for a one night stand as a gallery. Like any progressive form of exchange, boundaries must be constantly re-evaluated and expanded. In 2009, Illiterate asked how the many participating musicians would handle the challenge of covering the music of others. Would they honor their fellow performers, present and passed, with heartfelt renditions, or lampoon the competition with karaoke-like covers? What transpired was a sonic orgy with room for both sincerity and satire. This year, again Illiterate poses the question to both musicians and the visual newcomers to the party: "Just how far will you go?" All will be answered and on display Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Denver Does Denver, where original content and prudes will be left at the door. Welcome to the greatest show in D-Town”, like a bomb dropped on the Colorado streets, Latin hip-hop phenomena 20:12 threatens to change the hip-hop scene. Well known for their powerful live show, they have found a way to bring it to your stereo speakers. “The Party of Revolucion” Mixtape takes you through a sky lit drive from the shores of an ancient Mayan burial ground to the doors of your local nightclubs. The tracks go hard lyrically and show a wide range of musicianship; complete with the emotional song, the revolutionary song and the good ol fashion club banger. The hip-hop junky gets something to sink their teeth into as well; 20:12 offers a complete hip-hop experience holding it down lyrically in both English and Spanish. This mix tape answers a lot of questions critics had about the actual 20:12 LP released last December. The sophomore effort by 20:12 will have you wondering how these MC’s aren’t big yet. Track listing in .ZIP File DF* My good Friend Michael Coriano recently sent me this Jiberish Snowboard, ski and skate video produced to give a little back to the communities that nurtures their brand. So naturally I had to find out more about Jiberish, a local company. Below is from their website www.jiberish.com. Check it out.
-- It has been something we have wanted to do from the beginning.... our own Jiberish Concept store. A place where we could interact with our clients directly, try out new ideas, create limited edition items, and brand ourselves within the community. Even in causal discussions about it years ago, we knew that if we did it, we had to come correct. The proper neighborhood was one of the biggest focuses for us, and we could not have ended up in a better spot. The Jiberish LoHi Concept store is steps from the Platte River, Downtown, and the Denver Skatepark. We are neighbors with Emage, Unity, Colt & Gray and a host of great restaurants and bars. DF* Wow, I definitely would buy one of these from my local corner blanket salesman (Kentucky and Sheridan) if he had one instead of Raiders, Bratz or Disney babies. Even though the website you can order it from is Out of Stock I might just have to order when they do become available. DF* (via Incredible Things)
Get Yours Here. $20 Destorm Power turns Kanye West’s single “Power” into a drinking anthem. Freddie Wong contributed the epic parody of West’s music video. No one touch those drinks ’cause they ours! DF* (via The Awesomer)
